Privacy Policy

Last updated September 1st, 2026

Komplye, Inc. ("Company", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard the information you provide when using our website at komplye.com (the "Site") and the services accessible through it (the "Service").

The Service refers to Komplye's bookkeeping, tax filing, and US compliance services for Africa-based founders with Delaware C-Corps. By accessing the Site or using the Service, you accept this Privacy Policy and consent to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your information as described here.

I. Information We Collect

We collect two categories of information: Non-Personal Information and Personal Information.

Non-Personal Information includes data that cannot be used to identify you individually — such as browser type, device type, referring URLs, pages visited, and time and date of access.

Personal Information includes information that identifies you or your business, including your name, email address, IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, country of residence, company name, Employer Identification Number (EIN), year of incorporation, number of founders, LinkedIn URL, financial transaction history relevant to your tax filings, and any other information you submit through our onboarding form or in the course of using the Service. Technical data such as your IP address and derived location is shared only with infrastructure, hosting, and security vendors as necessary to operate and secure the Service, and is not shared with Enrolled Agents or accounting professionals.

1. Information Collected via Technology

To activate the Service, you need only submit your email address. To use the Service thereafter, you will be asked to provide additional Personal Information through our onboarding form. We also collect Non-Personal Information automatically through your browser, including your referring URL, browser type, device type, and access time. We may use cookies — small text files stored on your device — to track usage patterns and improve the Service. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect certain functionality.

We also automatically collect your IP address when you access the Site. We use your IP address to derive your approximate geographic location for purposes such as usage analytics, regional compliance routing, and fraud prevention. We do not use IP-derived location to precisely track your device or physical movements.

2. Information You Provide Through Onboarding

When you use our Service, you will submit information about yourself and your company through our onboarding form. This includes personal details, company details, financial information relevant to your tax filing obligations, and the current state of your bookkeeping records. This information is necessary for us to provide the Service accurately and in compliance with applicable US tax law.

3. Financial and Tax Information

Because Komplye provides tax filing and bookkeeping services, we necessarily collect and process sensitive financial information including bank transaction history, capital contributions, founder loans, expense records, and prior tax filings. This information is handled with strict confidentiality, shared only with the Enrolled Agents and staff directly involved in providing your Service, and is never sold or shared for marketing purposes.

We may also extract, aggregate, and anonymize transactional and financial data — stripped of all personal, corporate, and identifying markers — for internal analytics, software development, algorithmic training, and the research and development of financial solutions tailored for startup founders. Raw, identifiable financial data is never sold, leased, or shared with third parties for any purpose other than delivering the Service.

4. Children's Privacy

The Site and Service are not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

II. How We Use and Share Information

Personal Information

We use your Personal Information to provide and improve the Service, communicate with you about your account and filings, respond to questions and requests, send administrative notices (including deadline reminders where you have subscribed), and comply with applicable legal obligations.

We also use anonymized, aggregated financial data derived from your transactions — from which all identifying information has been irreversibly removed — to develop financial insights, risk models, and benchmarks for the purpose of building, improving, and offering Komplye's products, features, and future financial or treasury tools. This use applies only to data that cannot identify you or your entity individually.

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your Personal Information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share Personal Information only with:

  • Enrolled Agents and accounting professionals engaged to perform services on your behalf;
  • Technology vendors who support our operations (such as our payment processor, Stripe, and email service providers), solely as necessary to deliver the Service;
  • Government authorities (such as the IRS and the state of Delaware) as required to file your tax returns and comply with applicable law;
  • Legal or regulatory authorities where we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is required by law, to enforce these Terms, or to protect rights, property, or safety.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your Personal Information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you of any such change by posting notice on the Site.

We process IP address and derived location data on the basis of our legitimate interest in securing the Service, preventing fraudulent account activity, and understanding where our users are located to improve and localize the Service.

Non-Personal & Aggregate Information

We use Non-Personal Information and aggregated, anonymized financial datasets to analyze usage patterns, train software tools, build founder financial products, improve the Site, and understand customer metrics in aggregate. Because Aggregate Data does not identify you or your entity, we may use, share, and commercialize such data at our discretion.

III. How We Protect Your Information

We implement security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, including encryption in transit (SSL/TLS), access controls limiting who can view sensitive financial data, and secure storage practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept this inherent risk. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately at [email protected].

IV. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your Personal Information at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Note that we may be required to retain certain information for legal or regulatory reasons even after you request deletion — for example, tax records we have filed on your behalf. Deletion requests do not affect anonymized Aggregate Data, which by its nature cannot be attributed to you.

If you have subscribed to deadline reminders or any other marketing communications, you may unsubscribe at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in any such email. We will continue to send administrative emails (such as filing confirmations and onboarding updates) regardless of marketing preferences.

V. International Data Transfers

Komplye serves international founders, including Africa-based founders operating US Delaware entities. By accessing the Site or submitting your information, you acknowledge and consent that your personal and financial information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where Komplye, its affiliates, or service providers operate. We take appropriate contractual, organizational, and technical measures to ensure that international data transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and other applicable international frameworks.

VI. Data Retention

We retain Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and protect the Service, meet our operational needs, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with applicable legal obligations. Retention periods depend on the type of information and why we collected it; we do not promise a fixed minimum retention period.

  • We may retain financial, tax, account, or other records for as long as required by applicable law or reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. We may delete other information when it is no longer needed, subject to those obligations.
  • Aggregate Data and anonymized metrics derived from financial transactions are detached from your personal identity and may be retained indefinitely by Komplye for product research and development, benchmark modeling, and system improvements, even after your account is closed.

VII. Links to Other Websites

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, including payment processors, government portals, and other services. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by Komplye through the Site and Service. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites and encourage you to review their policies before using them.

VIII. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by sending an email to the address associated with your account and by posting a prominent notice on the Site. Changes take effect 30 days after notification. Non-material changes take effect immediately. We recommend checking this page periodically.
